Jan Maizler did it again
I had the pleasure to fish this year again with our long-time friend, journalist, photographer and great fishermen Jan Maizler.
Antonin_JPAugust 3, 2023An unforgettable experience Amazing first saltwater fishing experience! Raul and his guide Yuan were very professional. They put me on the right spots to catch some awesome tarpons. I would recommend their service to anyone looking for a reliable guiding agency.winter1111111May 31, 2022Great Fishing with a Great Outfitter I was one of 4 anglers who fished with Tarpon Town Anglers. Fishing for juvenile tarpon along the mangroves was a blast and more fun I've had on any of my five other salt water fishing trips. As good as the fishing was, the best part was the outfitter Raul. Raul was incredibly gracious and accommodating -- again the best experience I have ever had at any fishing lodge. I can hardly wait to return.SavedbygraceMarch 20, 2021Fun in the Sun Fishing Fishing with Tarpon Town Anglers in Compeche was the exclamation point on a wonderful adventure to the Yucatán. My fishing trip was a last minute add-on to my trip to Mexico. I was very impressed with Raul’s attention to every detail of my experience. His boats, motors and equipment are all top notch! His guides are very good, with one exception. While Raul’s English is exceptional, his guides currently speak very little. This was my first time tarpon fishing and it was difficult to understand their coaching. Raul has assured me he is aware of this and is working on it. The fishing opportunity itself was exceptional. I only had time to fish for two days, but saw over 100 tarpon! I did spin fishing, as well as fly fishing. It was an incredible experience! Campeche is an exceptionally beautiful little seaside city with a picturesque historic district. Raul is a master not only as a fishing outfitter, but also at arranging tours, transportation and meeting my every need. I will definitely book with Tarpon Town Outfitters again and for a longer time!”Nathan HDecember 7, 2020Tarpon Fishing as good as it gets for juvenile Tarpon Fished with Tarpon Town Anglers December 3rd - 5th 2020. It was everything and then some. Raul was great speaks great English. We were on Tarpon most of the day hooked between 10-20 Tarpon per day boating half of those, mostly fish between 10-30 pounds even caught 30 or so snook in 3 days. I realize we hit the weather perfect, but we all will be back as soon as possible.C SFebruary 26, 2020Great fishing, still room for improvement This is my first trip using this guide service. I went with seven others who have used them before. Trip was well organized, things went well picking us up from flying in to Mérida and returning us there. I was fortunate to have a very competent guide both days we fished. But from talking to the other people who have been there before there is still a significant discrepancy between the skill set of the guides. One of the weaker guides has not improved over the years. Long-term this will be a problem for this guide service if they don’t improve the quality/consistency of their guides so everyone can have a good experience.Don LNovember 17, 2019Great fishing, great guides, great trip! I just returned from my 5th week long trip fishing with Tarpon Town Anglers and hope to return for many more. I'm a novice saltwater fly fisherman, so being able to fish with accomplished guides was really important to me. Tarpon Town's guides knowv where the tarpon are, know the flies and presentations like ly to be successful, and always have the boat in the perfect position for you to cast. Raul and his guides are helpful with anything you might need, on or off the water. This is a top notch operation. I recommend it highly.Dream708488October 29, 2019Campeche = Catching Tarpon Raul (Tarpon Town) is a quality, gracious host and his guides are quite knowledgeable and professional. And you won’t regret enjoying the city of Campeche, interesting history, and great restaurants, shopping and watering holes. Add Tarpon Town to your list of destinations!Jim WilliamsOctober 29, 2019Baby Tarpon Heaven in the Yucatan Tarpon Town's guides will put you on tarpon just about every day, and some days there will be dozens and dozens of them. They know the water like the backs of their strong hands. They pole the boat along mangrove shorelines, bays, and creeks and spot tarpon that are invisible to the untrained eye. Campeche is a wonderful, safe city day and night with some delicious resturants. Everyone is friendly to the few tourists the city sees. It's not a "tourist trap" like Cancun or Cozumel. Accommodations are available right across the street from where you meet your guide at sunrise for the day of tarpon fishing. Get up and go! If you love to catch 5-20 pound tarpon, with a few just a little bigger, look no further. Both fly and spin fishing are available, and it's really a fly fisherman's paradise with more shallow clear water than you could ever fish. And its uncrowded too! Most days you won't see another fisherman. There are direct flights into Campeche from Mexico City. I've had no problems in and out of the Mexico City airport. You can also fly into Merida, MX from US cities and Tarpon Town will ground shuttle you to Campeche, approx. a couple hours.rsime2019October 29, 2019Tarpon fishing fun. Most excellent fishing experience! The juvenile tarpon fishing is the best ever. Raul and guides are dedicated to making your experience in and out of the water the best it can be. Can’t Wait till next time.tarpontoadOctober 29, 2019Excellent trip !! Raul runs a first class operation. The guides are knowledgeable and friendly and the fishing is wonderful. Can’t wait to go back !!Tripadvisor rating score: 5.0 of 5, based on 20 reviews
Ernesto SolanaOctober 16, 2023Raul has a great thing going on here. Great staff and lodge!brad staplesOctober 15, 2023I have been to Campeche over 15 times in the last 11 years. The city is amazing, safe, with many dinning options. I was with the first group to stay at the new Tarpon Town Colonial Lodge this past May. Raul and his team provide a very special lodging experience in his remodeled family home. We were treated as family! I will be back next year.Craig DennisOctober 13, 2023Excellent experience fishing and staying at Tarpon Town Colonial Lodge. Raul and the staff go out of their way to make your experience comfortable and insure you have everything you need. First rate. Will be back!John MickelOctober 7, 2023Raul has done a great job in restoring his family home into a perfect place to stay as you rest after catching tarpon all day. He has been able to maintain the feeling of home, while still providing excellent service as a lodge.ScottSeptember 23, 2023Stayed here as part of my fishing package. Very comfortable and clean accommodations. It’s like a home away from home. Located within the city and only a block away the main dining street in Campeche. Stayed in one of the large 2 bed rooms. A/C’s covering both beds. Plenty of room for all the fishing gear, couch, seating, TV and a shared bathroom with a huge shower. Room cleaned everyday. Had a cooked breakfast every morning. Started with fresh fruit of the day followed by the hot selection of the day. Eggs, breakfast burrito, etc Raul was the consummate host and all the staff very friendly and helpful. Raul is essentially a native English speaker. Most of the staff speak enough English to get what you need. Helps if you know some SpanishGraham SmithJuly 24, 2023I highly recommend Tarpon Town and their new Colonial Lodge! It is gorgeous and perfect for groups of 2-6. I have been twice and will be back again in the future. Raul is the original fish fishing outfitter in Campeche and is completely dialed in on everything you can experience on and off the water. The guides at Tarpon Town deliver an exceptional experience (with lots of variety) to novice and experienced anglers: sight fishing to tarpon in creeks, along mangroves and to rolling schooled up tarpon in open water (on endless miles of turtle grass flats). An ideal place to catch tarpon! Campeche is awesome place to visit! Safe and full of fantastic dining, unique shops, and attractions, an authentic and far more relaxed option vs. the more touristy areas on the other side of the Yucatán peninsula.
